EDCUR 990 - Seminar in Curriculum Research

This is a graduate studies course that is required by all graduate students. The purpose of the course is to introduce graduate students to the both academic and non-academic aspects of graduate studies and provide background preparation to support your academic studies. The course is broken into 5 modules that cover familiarizing yourself with Blackboards online learning management system, understanding your role as a graduate student and researcher and the ethical principles required, conducting research, writing in graduate studies and finally sharing, publishing and celebrating graduate projects.

This course was once again taught by Dirk Morrison and I enjoyed the opportunity to have him as our guide once again. I found that the modules of the course could be easily accomplished over a weekend which was relieving given the workload I was undertaking that fall.

My only regret is that I wish I had taken the opportunity to take this course at the start of my journey, rather than the end. A lot of what is covered in the course are skills that I learned on the fly as I worked myself through the program. So for any people planning to take ETAD  in the future, take this course in your first semester, not your last!
