The ETAD Journey

A day in an ETAD course looks a lot like this!

Where you start you ETAD journey is your choice, and choice makes up a large part of this program. There is no strict order of courses but there are certain courses that have prerequisites and there are some that certainly are useful to take before others.

As mentioned on the ETAD website there are three pathways to a Masters of Educational Technology and Design. There is the Thesis route, the Project Route and the Course Route.

For my Masters I choose the course route in order to not be overwhelmed by the thought of designing and defending a thesis. The course route requires you have 27 credits which works out to 9 classes along with some seminars and the development of a portfolio of learning. This is why this site is developed.  In the pull down list under the Education and Technology Design tab is a chronological list of the courses I took. Because I started my Masters over the summer of 2016 there were not a lot of courses available, so I took two courses. ETAD 803 - Multimedia Design and ETAD 805 - Current Topics in Educational Technology and Design. Both courses were a great start to my masters and provided me with great information and skills right off the start. In hindsight, I may have wished to take the ETAD 803 course later in my degree, but I enjoyed the hands on application within this course.  The following is the schedule of courses I took throughout my year and a half in the program.
